Eagle Essentials at UMW

Last Week my friend Sean sent me this photo from the 2012 Eagle Essentials publication. The handbook is given to all incoming students upon arriving for their first semester at the University of Mary Washington. This photo was taken in 2010 during my final year at the University of Mary Washington. It was a nice reminder from UMW Hassan to keep doing what worked so well for me then,...

2012 Crossfit Games Open

2012 Crossfit Games Open

This year I am excited to compete in the Crossfit Games Open. The Open is a five week search for the fittest person on the planet. I have been doing Crossfit since May of last year and I hope to learn a lot about my strengths and weaknesses.  I can credit a lot of my recent weight loss, muscle gain, and energy to this dynamic fitness program. For me Crossfit along with a Paleo template diet has become the best way for me to maintain an efficient and healthy lifestyle.  As described on the Crossfit Games website:  The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general, and inclusive fitness. We have sought to build a program that will best prepare trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. Capacity culled from the intersection of all sports demands would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. In sum, our specialty is not specializing. The Open is open to anyone in the world with access to a Crossfit Affiliate or video camera. Once a week a workout is posted and athletes complete the workout at a Crossfit Affiliate (or film the workouts to be validated by Crossfit HQ). After Workout 12.1 last week, I am currently ranked 24,415 out of 55,000 athletes.  Follow my progress and workouts on...

Joining “Velvet Rut”

Posted by on Dec 29, 2011 in Updates | 0 comments

Earlier this year I was approached by David Dillehunt, Abrill Macbeth and Chris Simmons, Jr to join the cast of their new television production, Velvet Rut. The show is a (mostly) improvised sketch comedy show centered around the diverse characters that call Charlottesville, VA home. Inspired by the success of Portlandia on IFC, the four of us along with fellow cast member Maggie Castro have spent the last few weekends shooting a three episode pilot season. The show is shot entirely by David Dillehunt’s professional production company DND Films. Upon completion of the third and final pilot episode this weekend, we hope to showcase our comedic ode to Charlottesville to networks in hopes of soliciting interest in producing a full season of Velvet...
